#Reinstall touchcopy 16 driver
Once I changed the path the driver properly reflected the iTouch as a USB device, and not a digital camera.
#Reinstall touchcopy 16 drivers
Was almost ready to throw in the towel when I did one last search for alternate solutions and found the following instructions to reinstall the drivers, but to instead of having the system look to the c:\Windows\inf or c:\windows\system 32 folders for the drivers, the path is changed to c:\program files\common files\Apple\Apple Mobile Support\Drivers, which is apparently where Vista installs the drivers to. I tried disabling/uninstalling and reinstalling from the Device Manager as noted in previous posts in this thread. Just wanted to add one more solution to using iTouch with 32 bit version of Windows Vista as I spent the last 72 hours trying to get my daughter's iTouch to work with a new Dell Inspiron (w/ Vista Home).
Sorry about the vagueness of steps 5/6, but I was tired and couldn't remember which one worked. You'll hear the sounds of a USB device being found and viola! A choir of angels will sing as your Touch connects, auto-starts iTunes, and syncs This is where it gets really odd.the iPod will disappear from portable devices and reappear in your USB ControllersĨ. If that doesn't trigger step 7, then right click on iPod again and click "Disable"ħ. This is where it gets wierd.1st try clicking on "Update Driver Software" then "Search Web." After a bit, it'll give you a message.just close itĦ. Look for iPod under Portable Devices, if it's there, right click on it (if not, we don't have the same issue)ĥ. Scroll down USB Devices, expand it, then to Portable Devices and expand it tooĤ. Click on Hardware & Sound then Device Managerģ. Connect your Touch and open your Vista control panel after it settles downĢ. Here's my solution, and I don't have any clue why this works, so hopefully one of the smart moderators will step in and help us out if it works for you:ġ. I tried removing every Apple application, fully reloading iTunes, disabling various iPod services.nothing! After two weeks of using my Touch as a paperweight, I started getting creative. I really believe this all started when I connected my Touch to my generic USB hub.anyone else seen this?
After a few attempts to connect and reconnect, Vista begins to recognize it as an iPod, but never auto-launches iTunes, and iTunes never shows the Touch. Then after a few tones indicated a USB device had been disconnected and connected a few times, I got the message that Vista was loading a device driver for a digital camera. It started with an error message along the lines of "iPhone connection failed x77320" or something like that.yeah, iPhone.
